Reflexology and Mental Health
In a “normal” year mental health affects 1 in 4 people. During the last 12 months speaking with friends, family and clients, many are dealing with periods of high stress which has affected their mental health to varying degrees.
Extended periods of stress can also start to affect us physically. Some have found coping mechanisms such as exercise, complementary therapies, mindfulness, talking to professionals and some are still searching.
Over the last year, when I have been able to see clients, the main feedback I’ve received is Reflexology has supported them mentally whilst managing other physical conditions and / or environmental situations, giving respite and boosting an overall sense of wellbeing.
Along with supportive therapies there are many organisations and help available such as www.mind.org.uk and Every Mind Matters www.nhs.uk/oneyou/every-mind-matters. If you are feeling overwhelmed or need support, please reach out x
Reflexology and Menopause
The menopause can be a confusing time for many women and trying to understand what symptoms are “normal” can be frustrating in itself. No two women experience the same symptoms which can include hot flushes/flashes, low mood, anxiety, insomnia, muscle and joint aches, adult acne, plus many more. Some women will experience mild symptoms whilst for others it can become debilitating.
Reflexology can assist with menopausal symptoms by working reflex points mapped to the endocrine system (pituitary, hypothalamus, thymus, adrenal, pineal and ovary reflexes) to achieve balance and thereby supporting the physical and emotional changes that are taking place. By linking these reflexes it can also help with anxiety, improve sleep quality and encourage a deep sense of relaxation.
